Celebrating ten years of their collaborative efforts, 2016 sees the latest incarnation of an IWC product released in celebration of the Laureus “Sport for Good” foundation, which by means of various sports and celebrated athletes using the power of sports to help war torn and disenfranchised areas of the world. This year, the blue synonymous with this collection has been delivered in the Portofino Mid Size collection. Not explicitly for women but the 37mm diameter case with diamond accents lends itself to being the first full collection for ladies from IWC.
As always, the Laureus edition Portofino Mid Size is offered in a limited run of 1500 pieces worldwide. The 37mm case is made in stainless steel, a stunning blue sunburst dial has diamond accents at the hour markers and carries the small complication of an accurate moonphase only adding to the appeal of this model being more than a gimmick. Finished on a blue alligator strap with signature orange underside, especially made by famous leather goods manufacturer Santoni, exclusively for IWC completes a very luxurious product whose purchase will see worldwide benefits.
Each of the signature Laureus limited editions are engraved on the caseback with a direct replica of a drawing done by one of the children who have directly benefited from the foundation as well as being individually numbered. Powered by an automatic movement with 42 hours of power reserve, even without the added charity element…this is still a very functional and elegant timepiece for the modern woman. We have just received our stock piece, please do feel free to visit the store & see it in person.
