Omega is a brand that is historically renown for precision and innovation. The forerunner to Omega as we know it today was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, under the company name; La Generale Watch Company. The original company specialised in assembling precision pockets watches using parts supplied by local watch makers and in turn sold internationally with Great Britain being a chief market. His sons, Cesare and Louis-Paul Brandt built upon this foundation by creating a revolutionary system of creating and repairing movements using an interchangeable system that allowed them to produce multiple items and has continued to be the base for Omega’s success to this day.

Over the years, Omega have continued to build on the premise of precision and innovation. Omega has been an official time keeper for the Olympics since 1932 and was the first watch worn on the Moon in 1969 by legendary astronaut, Buzz Aldrin. Omega’s legendary Speedmaster was chosen for this mission after passing NASA’s strict tests for precision. In 1999, Omega further confirmed further testament to precision and innovation by incorporating the Co-Axial calibre into their movements. This ground breaking innovation was developed by British watch maker, George Daniels. The aim of this innovation was to reduce friction and thus increase durability and precision.

Omega’s brand awareness has been heightened in recent years via their sponsorship of athletes and other sporting events alongside their famous relationship with the James Bond franchise. Taking over from Rolex as the spy’s watch of choice, an Omega Seamaster model has been worn by Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig in the films and in turn creating limited editions watches for the public.

Historically, Omega has always been at the front of the watch industry as know it from continuous involvement in Observatory trials to setting the blueprint for modern techniques of watchmaking and distribution. New Cavendish Jewellers has been an official and authorised partner for Omega watches for over a quarter of a century. We welcome you to discover the world of Omega with us."
