IWC’s Pilot’s collection built on humble grounds has become quite the behemoth. Now incorporating the Classic Pilot family, Top Gun & Miramar ceramic pieces and the very well received blue dials of the Petit Prince selection alongside the constant Spitfire models; 2017 sees the introduction of the Antoine de Saint Exupery as a regular series.
The author & pilot, who’s famous book Le Petit Prince inspired the aforementioned collection enjoyed a series of limited editions with tobacco brown dials. These dials are delivered for 2017 in the regular Mark XVIII & Pilot’s Chronograph stainless steel cases at the same price as their Pilot’s counterparts.
However the star of this year’s Antoine de Saint Exupery collection is the Big Pilot model with Annual Calendar complication. The 18ct Red Gold oversized case perfectly highlight the contrasting polished and brushed finishes on the case while simply the size of the dial showcases the sunburst effect perfected by IWC.
As with other calendar complications made by IWC, the day, date & month are all set by a single crown (& what a crown at that!). The Pellaton winding system, invented many moons ago within IWC is retained offering a full seven days worth of power reserve once fully wound cements just how much of a power house this model is.
Limited to 250 pieces worldwide – UK RRP is £29,950.00 & it is now in stock to view in person.
