Though Longines today as a Brand is often jumbled in with other mass production companies, a little digging with showcase their quite venerable history, especially in mastering the art of production in numbers. A double edged sword to an extent as there are then a lot of longines on the market ending up with the consumer not being able to see the wood for the trees.
In recent years there appears to have been a concerted effort to pay homage to their genuine history, especially in military styles and notably this years sector dial variant. Plenty of internet pages have been dedicated to those two lovely watches but we wish to highlight a different angle from Longines.
Blue has been the go to colour for the past two years for both dress and sports watches. Longines are no different, but the introduction of a blue dial to the Presence family and in automatic form is offering a lot of quality for the very value focused price point.
Delivered in a 40mm polished stainless steel case, with sapphire caseback on an alligator grained calf strap, a gorgeous sunburst blue dial (with useful date aperture) is topped with a scratch resistant sapphire glass. Powered by Longines’ own L888 calibre boasting a solid 64 hours of power reserve and finished well enough to demand visibility through the caseback…it is a lot of watch for £990.00!
If we look across the Brands in our portfolio, IWC’s Portofino automatic comes in at £4,050.00, whilst even an Omega De Ville doesn’t come in at less than £2,500.00, therefore we can’t recommend this Longines highly enough for not just its quality but an excellent introduction into the world of mechanical watches without breaking the bank.
