Product Details

British & Green simply work together perfectly so the striking Big Pilot 43 looks the part with its distinctive greeen dial. For 2021, IWC unveil a new Big Pilot model with reduced diameter. A design classic, the genuine military heritage of this model only adds to the allure! The Big Pilot’s Watch 43 combines iconic design with superb movement technology and pronounced versatility in an ergonomic case diameter of 43 millimetres.

No other model expresses the fascination of IWC Schaffhausen aviator’s watches like the Big Pilot’s Watch. Its purely functional cockpit-instrument design and oversized conical crown were inspired by a military observation watch from the 1940s. The Big Pilot’s Watch 43 is a faithful interpretation of this original design without any additional elements on the dial, and in a 43-millimetre stainless steel case that combines an amazing presence on the wrist with maximum wearing comfort.

This model features a green dial, rhodium-plated hands and a green rubber strap with Big Pilot signature studs. Visible through the sapphire glass case back is the IWC-manufactured 82100 calibre. The Pellaton winding system has been reinforced with ceramic components and builds up a power reserve of 60 hours. The practical EasX-CHANGE system and a choice of straps in rubber, calfskin, rubber or stainless steel provide a high degree of flexibility. Combined with the now 10 bar water-resistant case, this transforms the Big Pilot's Watch 43 into a modern, fully versatile sports watch.

IWC unveiled the first Special Pilot’s Watch in 1936. The Big Pilot’s Watch followed 4 years later and was the ultimate deck watch. In 1948, the Schaffhausen watch manufacturer supplied the Mark 11 to British Royal Air Force, where it remained in service for almost 40 years. The cockpit-instrument look of these three iconic watches inspires the design of classic pilot’s watches to this day. The IWC Pilot’s Watch family is divided up into five distinct lines. The classic Pilot’s Watches are instantly recognizable thanks to their black-and-white dials and the triangular index at “12 o’clock”.
