Article: Crimson Dawn with IWC's new Portugieser

Crimson Dawn with IWC's new Portugieser

For 2020, IWC updated their best selling Portugieser Chronogrograph. The main change was a new in-house calibre first showcased in this collection with the 150th Anniversary models. This movement is now delivered as standard across this collection, beautifully finished & available to view via a sapphire caseback. The dials retain the same layout as before the the font is now especially sharper. Finally, an updated butterfly clasp replaces the previous single blade version that should make for a more comfortable fitting.

The dials on the updated models had retained their classic colour schemes...until now. Alongisde a green colour, which has been seen before in this family, the burgundy/crimson colour is a first. The vivd colour tends to evoke strong emotions and this has definitely been the feeling amongst enthusiasts and new fans alike. When experimenting with new colourways, the colours can sometimes be vivid but often take away from the design or be difficult to wear. Here, the red is both exciting but definitely versatile enough to be worn with many outfits.
