Form and function have been at the heart of IWC from the beginning. In 1868, Florentine Ariosto Jones established the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen, utilising the hydro power of the Rhine River fed by the thundering Rhine Falls. Though the Manufacture has since been updated, Schaffhausen remains the heart of IWC. From oversized pocket watches converted into wrist watches to mastering the skies during the World Wars, IWC has remained intertwined into the canon of modern horology. Delivering world firsts such as the first fully Perpetual Calendar, entirely operated by a single crown and showing a four-digit year display to a pioneering of different materials.
