2 MARYLEBONE HIGH STREET – LONDON – W1U 4NF

Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Mariner

The Polaris model is an inconic part of Jaeger-LeCoultre canonical history. The original was a standalone watch built of the mechanical marvel that was the underwater alarm. The modern Polaris is a family in its own right, offering date only designs to incredible world timers. Designed to be the modern sportier arm of the collection, the entire series is built using the Grande Maison’s technical know how – from the movements to case construction.

The latest addition to this collection is the Polaris Mariner, consisting of two models – the Polaris Mariner Date & Polaris Mariner Memovox.

A nice touch has been the further addition of a sapphire glass caseback. Most diving watches refrain from an open caseback to help ensure pressure resistance but technology has improved enough to incorporate this. Furthermore, an important element of the original Polaris was the alarm gong was attached to the case so the Diver could feel the vibration under water. Here Jaeger-LeCoultre have used a design as seen in their super complications where the gong is attached to the sapphire glass creating a stronger sound and feel.

Overall, the Polaris Mariner continues to build off the success of its Compressor predecessors and with the blue dial reminiscent of the Polaris limited edition with lacquered dial, these two are no doubt going to be sought after again…
