Blancpain – Centuries of Experience

Blancpain is one of the world's leading watch designers, with an extensive history, stretching from 1735 to the present day and beyond. This renowned watch brand was born when Jehan-Jacques Blancpain registered as a professional watchmaker in 1735 in Villeret, Switzerland.

After a lot of success developing ultra-thin watch construction, his grandson, Frederic-Louis Blancpain, developed the manufacturing process and made the name Blancpain synonymous with high-quality watches.

Initially, a family business; every CEO was named Blancpain for almost 200 years as seven generations of the family until 1932, when Betty Fiechter was elevated as the first female CEO of one of the oldest and most renowned watchmaking companies in the world. In the 1950s, Blancpain was manufacturing an average of 100,000 Blancpain watches a year to meet growing demand.

Ladybird Ladies Watch Collection

With the rise of Betty Fiechter came a new addition of watches to the company, the Blancpain Ladybird collection. Since the 1930s, Blancpain has remained a prominent and pioneering name in the history of elegant ladies’ watches. The first self-winding wristwatch for women was developed by Blancpain, with additional horological complications (normally reserved for men’s watches) that were added improvements over the years.

This Blancpain Ladybird Colours watch faithfully represents the timeless values that Blancpain is known for. Assembled by hand, this stunning watch is a perfect blend of beauty and complexity. None of the Ladybird watches are simply reduced-sized alternatives, this range is specifically designed to meet women’s expectations of what a luxury watch should be.

Fifty Fathoms Watch Collection

Blancpain’s designers are currently creating the future of watchmaking with this Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe watch, but they are also connected to tradition. Rather than exploring quartz movements, Blancpain is committed to supporting the art and history of solid swiss watchmaking. This choice has turned the swiss navy’s commissioned watch, the Fifty Fathoms collection, into not only the standard for diving watches but a lauded watch collection with decades of history.

Journey to the New Millenium.

In 1961, the company joined a prestigious organisation that promotes horology globally, the Societe Suisse Pour I’industrie Horlogere (SSIH). Other members included other notable watch brands such as Omega Tissot and Lemania. Blancpain’s expertise places them at the centre of movement production for the group. Although several global economic problems, along with the development of quartz watch movements, were a blow for Blancpain, they could overcome them and grow into a stronger independent company.

Despite the company’s ownership, name and leadership changing over the following decades, one thing that remained consistent was the brand’s position as a highly sought-after luxury watchmaker. In 2010, Blancpain acquired a legendary developer of complicated movements, Frederic Piguet, further developing the company’s capabilities.

The Blancpain watches manufactured today are the result of the company’s continued desire to combine innovation with elegance to create outstanding timepieces for even the most discerning watch collector.

Air Command Watch Collection

The Air Command Collection is a military-themed watch that celebrates a combination of vintage style with the latest technological advances. The timepieces are modern upgrades to a previous design commissioned by the US Air Force as a direct result of the popularity of the Fifty Fathoms collection.

The watches in this renowned collection, such as this Blancpain Air Command, have a sophisticated design and a hard-wearing elegance that makes them perfect as a practical yet luxurious watch.

Villeret Watch Collection

The Blancpain Villeret watches are a timelessly elegant range of watches that genuinely speak to Blancpain’s deep connection to the past and its roots. Named after the village where the company was founded centuries ago, this limited edition Quantieme Complet Grand Feu was part of only 75 made.

Blending modern innovation with a traditional vintage design is a challenge that Blancpain surpasses every time. The watches in this collection incorporate advanced movement-making techniques such as under-lug correctors, exceptional power reserves and more to provide an exceptional timepiece.
